The mean age over both genders and both techniques has not changed much, from 41 in 1999 to 42 in 2025. The mean age of men increased fairly steadily until 2020 when it began to decline. The mean age of females remained relatively stable until 2020, then, as with males. Perhaps this decline has to do with the initiation of the open track event in 2020, which may have drawn relatively more from the older skiers.
On average, classic skiers are about 4.2 years older than freestyle skiers, and women are about 5.8 years younger than men.
Average age for:
Classic – female = 41.1
Classic – male = 48.1
Freestyle – female = 37.9
Freestyle – male = 43.4
