This approach is similar to that used by Baker et al., 2003. The second degree polynomials used for model development for all for figures dealing with performance degradation were highly significant (R2>0.97).

The base level performance levels were (h:min:sec):

Classic 45-49 female - 5:47:35

Classic 45-49 male - 5:22:26

Classic 45-49 top 3 female - 4:18:39

Classic 45-49 top 3 male - 3:28:35

Freestyle 35-39 female - 4:17:37
